Spring into April with These Dog-Friendly Events Around Sacramento!

Hey dog lovers, it’s finally April—which means longer days, sunshine, and a bunch of great excuses to get outside with your pup. Whether you stick around Sacramento or cruise over to the Bay, something is happening almost every weekend that’ll get both tails and spirits wagging.

Loose-Leash Leadership Training

Let’s start with something close to home. Every Sunday morning at 10 AM, we’re out at Phoenix Dog Park in Fair Oaks for a relaxed meetup we call “Training at the Park.” It’s casual, it’s free, and it’s all about building better habits with your dog while connecting with other local folks doing the same. If you’ve been wanting to work on leash manners or just want your dog to be cool around distractions, this is a fun way to get started. We keep it positive and low-pressure, and everyone’s welcome. You can check out the details and RSVP here: Training at the Park Meetup.

Dogs with Jobs

Now, if you’re looking for something a to do with the kids, the Sacramento Children’s Museum is hosting their “Dogs with Jobs” event on April 5th. It’s an awesome opportunity to see working dogs in action—think police K9s, service animals, therapy dogs—and learn what it takes to do the jobs they do. Definitely a cool one if you have kids or just love seeing dogs with purpose.

Paws and Pints

The very next day, April 6th, LogOff Brewing in Rancho Cordova is hosting “Paws and Pints” from 1 to 5 PM. Imagine kicking back with a beer while your dog makes a few new friends—it’s exactly that kind of afternoon. These laid-back brewery events are great if your dog is social and you’re into meeting other dog people in the area.

Doggy Dash & A Birthday Bash

April 12th is shaping up to be a big one. You’ve got the 32nd Annual Doggy Dash at William Land Park, put on by the Sacramento SPCA. There’s a 2K and 5K walk, and afterward, the Bark at the Park Festival takes over with vendors, games, food, and a whole lot of happy dogs. That same day, down in Elk Grove, PetstoGo is throwing a birthday bash. It’s one of those local gems with treats, giveaways, and probably a few surprises—you never know what you’ll find, but it’s always a good time.

DogFest

If you feel like taking a little road trip, DogFest is happening on April 19th at Duboce Park in San Francisco. It’s a full afternoon of dog parades, carnival games, and community fun, all to support McKinley Elementary School. Definitely worth the drive if you’ve got the time.

Pints for Paws

And to wrap up the month, there’s “Pints for Paws” on April 26th at Dogpatch WineWorks in SF. You’ll find unlimited craft beer and wine tastings, live music, food trucks, and it all supports Berkeley Humane. You can bring your dog too—so yeah, pretty much a perfect Saturday.

If you want to keep up with what’s happening each month—dog events, training tips, local insights—make sure you’re following us on Facebook and Instagram. We love seeing your dogs out there thriving, so tag us when you come to an event or hit the park.
