Dog-Friendly Events in March 2026

Sacramento • San Francisco Bay Area • Reno

March is one of the best months to get out with your dog. The weather is (usually) forgiving, spring energy is kicking in, and there are some genuinely fun dog-friendly events happening across Northern California and Northern Nevada.

Whether you’re looking for a laid-back patio fundraiser, a creative night out, a winery weekend, or a full-blown pet show, here’s what’s happening:

🐾 Greater Sacramento Area

Enjoy a dining night where proceeds benefit local animal welfare efforts. This fundraiser takes place at Red Robin in Roseville, and it’s a simple way to support a great cause while enjoying a relaxed evening out.

You don’t have to be an artist — these events are guided and beginner-friendly.

Ongoing: Doggie Day Out & Pups and PJs

Hosted by Front Street Animal Shelter

This one isn’t a single event — it’s an experience.

Front Street’s Doggie Day Out program allows you to take a shelter dog out for a few hours. Go for a hike. Grab coffee on a patio. Take them on a long walk through Midtown. Give them a break from kennel life.

Their Pups and PJs program even allows approved participants to host a shelter dog overnight.

It’s not adoption — it’s enrichment, advocacy, and exposure that helps dogs decompress and get seen.

A Quick Reality Check Before You Go

Dog-friendly doesn’t automatically mean dog-appropriate.

Before attending:

  • Ask yourself if your dog genuinely enjoys busy environments.
  • Bring water.
  • Keep leashes short and respectful.
  • Advocate for your dog’s space.
  • Leave early if they’re overwhelmed.

Not every dog thrives in crowds — and that’s okay.

The goal isn’t exposure for the sake of it. It’s positive experiences that build confidence and strengthen your relationship.

If you’re local to the Sacramento area and want help preparing your dog for public outings, patios, winery days, or large events like these, an in-home assessment can help you build the skills that make experiences like this enjoyable — for both of you.

Because the best dog-friendly event is one your dog can actually enjoy. 🐾
